Timberlake dies, is reborn as Cockatoo

90′s hairstyle included.

Just kidding! Plus, it’s Backstreet boys, not Nsync (I think I’ll have to shoot myself over the fact I still remember that), but the real star here is this bird’s previous owner. I’d say they were either perpetually stoned, or had absolutely no life. If it was the former, congratulations are due.

My front row favorites from LA fashion week

So, though LA fashion week is widely regarded as the black sheep/village idiot of fashion weeks worldwide, I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it could be to sit front row at a show, a priviledge otherwise reserved for superstars in New York or Paris. Three shows to be exact, and though they weren’t Chanel or Prada, they weren’t without their hits either. Some of my favorite pieces included:

Jeremy Scott’s sexy silk dress and creative yellow pencil skirt. I think I’d forego the constuction hats and trash can lids though…

Evidence of Evolution’s comfy looking t-shirt dresses looked like must-buys to me, though then again, knowing fashion right now, they could very well cost $300.

And last but not least, though I’m not usually a fan of glorified prom dresses, some of the the tailoring and fabulous colors that paraded down the runway at Dina Bar El were really wonderful. Other than a select few however, most of her line was a bit too ‘saccharine’ for me.

Spotlight on Eco-friendly

I happened across a fabulous site today that offers nothing but eco-friendly home alternatives. From salvaged wood furniture to soft carpets made of reused sweaters, Viva Terra offers some trully stunning examples of how one can be stylish and eco-centric. Just read some of the descriptions for their products and you’ll be awed with just how innovative some of the things they make are. Some of my favorites include:

These spectacular Recycled Metal Branch Candle holders.

These Salvaged Wood Nesting tables.

This Edison kitchen table made from actual floor planks from a recently demolished factory owned by Thomas Edison

And this beautiful recycled Railroad tie dining set.

Day by day, living green has become easier and more stylish! Don’t forget to check out their non-wood furniture as well!

Cocteau on the mind

I’ve been seeing these fascinating, wall mounted hands all over the place these days! Designed by Harry Allen, they come in a variety of styles, though every single on of them reminds me of La Belle et la bête. Now if only he could make a few that went all the way up to the elbow, such as the table candelabra, or a wall sconce!

I’m in love. New apartment, new city, new spin on a sleeper sofa! No more slouchy leather upholstery, no more difficult to pull out mattress. Nothing but well designed beauty by the Domus Design Collection. I am specifically referring to my soon-to-be newest addition, their Cosma sleep sofa. Gorgeous, non?

Now here’s a centerpiece for any occasion, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s under $40! Designed by Maxim Velčovský for gnr8, the candlelier is a beautiful addition to a dimly lit room and a bottle of wine. Couple that with this $5.95 set of 50 tealights from CB2, and you’ve got yourself a romantic conversation starter.

I’m starting something. Not sure what quite yet, but I’m determined to make it special, and most importantly, helpful.

So, here goes nothing!
